solution for injections

Description

Transparent yellow solution.

Composition

1 ml of the drug contains:

active ingredient: tylosin (as tylosin tartrate) – 50 mg;

Excipients: propylene glycol, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties

ATCvet: QJ01— antibacterials for systemic use. QJ01FA90 - Tylosin.

Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic, inhibiting bacterial synthesis of proteins by binding to ribosomal 50S subunits. The drug has bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive (Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Streptococcus spp.) and gram-negative microorganisms (Actinobacillus spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Fusobacterium spp., Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Pasteurella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella spp.), as well as mycoplasms (Mycoplasma gallisepticum, M. hyopneumoniae, M. synoviae, M. meleagridis, M. agalactiae, M. bovigenitalium).

Due to its high solubility in fats, tylosin, when administered intramuscularly, is rapidly distributed in organs and tissues. Tylosin reaches maximum concentrations in the blood of calves approximately 2 hours after administration, in cows and swine - in 2-4 hours, in goats and sheep - in 3-4 hours. The plasma protein binding of tylosin ranges from 30% to 50%, depending on the species. The highest substance concentrations are observed in idneys and liver. The therapeutic substance level in tissues persists is preserved for more than 20 hours. Tylosin is primarily metabolized in the liver and excreted in urine and milk.

Administration

Cattle: pneumonia, mastitis, pneumoenteritis, secondary bacterial infections in viral diseases, caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin.

Sheep, goats: bronchial pneumonia, infectious agalactia, secondary bacterial infections in viral diseases, caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin.

Swine: enzootic pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, arthritis, dysentery, secondary bacterial infections in viral diseases, caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin.

Turkeys: diseases of respiratory organs, caused by florfenicol-sensitive microorganisms.

Dosage

Administer intramuscularly once a day in the following doses:

Animal species

Drug doses

(ml per 1 kg body weight)

Cattle

0.1

Calves

0.2

Sheep, goats

0.2-0.24

Swine

0.2

Turkeys

0.1-0.2

Duration of treatment: 3-5 days.

If the dose, when administered, exceeds 10 ml for cattle, 5 ml for swine, sheep and goats, the injection volume is divided into two parts and injected in different places.

Contraindications

Do not administer to animals with hypersensitivity to tylosin.

Do not administer to animals with impaired renal and hepatic function.

Do not use simultaneously with tiamulin, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, penicillins (especially with ampicillin and oxacillin), anticoagulants, cephalosporins and lincomycin.

Do not administer the drug in horses.

Do not use in animals during pregnancy and in the first week of life.

Precautions

Animal slaughter for meat is allowed in 21 days (cattle), 14 days (swine) and 8 days (sheep, goats) following the last drug administration. Milk consumption is allowed in 4 days following the last drug administration.  Meat and milk, obtained before the mentioned term, shall be utilized or fed to non-productive animals depending on the veterinary physician’s recommendation.

In swine, allergic reactions in the form of mild edema, erythema, itching and respiratory manifestations may occur, they disappear after drug withdrawal. Use in rabbits, guinea-pigs and other rodents can cause diarrhea.
